I did it!. It was certainly not easy to understand.
Sorry if you could not acces to the blog this afternoon for a couple of hours.
I don't know if you had noticed before today: the URL of this blog was not really http://piratec.net (or http://piratec.fr). These two domain names were redirect to the original typepad address of this blog: http://piratec.typepad.com.
First, my domain name had to be configured with my provider (
Namebay) and in a second time, activate with
Typepad.
I wanted all the page links in my blog to sue the mapped domain (piratec.net), not the typepad.com subdomain (piratec.typepad.com).
I needed to use the CNAME to map the domain to my weblog. At my Namebay account, I added a service to the domain name that would allowed me to "Advanced DNS Management".
Then the only thing I had to do was to create the CNAME alias and point it to piratec.typepad.com.
CNAME is a domain alias. It points a host name to an other host name.
I know it sound very complicated. I was not sure myself, to understand what I was reading. The online help can be well done, it always seems a little confusing.
I do not have anyone around me to explain me these things!
So I did follow the instruction and if I was not understanding everything, I understood the general meaning of Domain Mapping.
Now it will be easier to navigate on the blog.
