I use Flickr a lot to upload my pictures.
I do like that application because I can geotag each photo on a map.
I take picture with my iPhone, my Sony HDR-TG1 and my Leica.
I upload the pictures from the Sony or the Leica using the Flickr Uploadr Application. To upload photos to Flickr from my iPhone
I simply email the photo to Flickr, using the special Flickr uploading email address. You simply need to activate the feature on your Flickr account.
Each picture needs to be located manually on the map, which is a big hassle to me.
When the iPhone 3G came out with his GPS-toting feature I thought each picture would be automatically geo-localized. Unfortunately that was not the case.
The only way to have Flickr geotag those photos was by using a third-party iPhone application like AirMe.
With AirMe you can choose by default on which account you want to upload the pictures (Flickr, facebook, Picasa). You can snap pictures and upload them directly to your account. It also saves the photo to your iPhone’s library (Camera Roll). There are also two nice features “Send via Email” and “Post to Twitter” which linked the picture on the sent message.
Thanks to blogFlickr for the tip: Now I can just use Flickr’s upload by email feature and have them automatically geotagged. To be able to do that, you need to change your geottaging privacy settings to allow Flickr to geotag your photos and import EXIF location data.
It is faster and easier than to use a third-party iPhone application.
I noticed that the GPS data is not very accurate. With AirMe, it seemed better because the app is updating the location of the iPhone before uploading the photo. I do not know how often the iPhone automatically update its location.
Do you upload photos from your cell phone or iPhone? Tell me about it.
