Biggest and Brightest Full Moon.

Tonight is a lucky night because the moon is closer to us and today is also the full moon. 

The moon is less than 357,000 kilometers – or 222,000 miles – away. 
The night sky is set to be illuminated by the biggest and brightest full moon for the past 15 years (last time was in March ’93) After today, the moon won’t come this close to Earth for another 8 years (November 14, 2008).

Space shuttle Endeavour (STS-126).

The space shuttle Endeavour is getting ready to support its target launch date of Nov. 14. 

This flight will feature important repair work and prepare the International Space Station (ISS). The 15 days flight with its four planned spacewalks will primarily focus on servicing the station. Each Spacewalk will last approximately 6.5 hours.

Endeavour (STS-126).

La NASA prépare le lancement de la navette pour le 14 novembre. 

Ce vol aura pour mission principale d’effectuer d’importants travaux de réparation de la Station spatiale internationale (ISS). Les 15 jours de vol, avec ses quatre sorties dans l’espace seront principalement axés sur le service de la station. Chaque sortie extravéhiculaire durera environ 6,5 heures.

Phoenix Found Water on Mars.

"We have water" said William Boynton of the University of Arizona.

NASA also announced that the mission is extended to September 30. The good shape of the spacecraft and the new results made possible to addfive weeks to the 90 days of the prime mission.

Phoenix Lands on Mars!

Phoenix has arrived at the Red Planet. 
After a journey of almost 10-months and more than 400 million miles,  Phoeniw is going to begin its search of water and possible conditions for life on Mars.  

Phoenix est arrivé sur la Planète Rouge.
Après un voyage de presque 10 mois et plus de 640 million de kilomètres, Phoeniw va commencer ses recherches pour trouver de l'eau et de possibles conditions de vie sur Mars.

Phoenix Mars Lander : Final Trajectory

August 4th, 2007 The Delta II Lauched the Mars Phoenix spacecraft. Remember my different post (and here).

Tonight NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander  will reach Mars with no further adjustments to its flight path. Mission controllers decided early today not to use the last possible time for a trajectory correction maneuver, eight hours before landing.

ISS Hand - Dextre.

Usa_2 A helping hand for the ISS dubbed Dextre, was install last week by the Endeavor astronauts during a spacewalk.
The original Canadarm Remote Manipulator System, or "robot arm," is an important part of the Space Shuttle's equipment, useful for retrieving satellites and for building things in space.
Dextre adds an extension to the original device, with two smaller arms. It is capable of handling the delicate assembly tasks currently performed by astronauts during space walks.
Its two arms will allow Dextre to transport objects, use tools, and install and remove equipment on the Space Station. It will be equipped with lights, video equipment, a tool platform and four tool holders.
It will reduce the number of dangerous space walks required for the maintenance of the ISS.

France_2Dextre a été installé la semaine dernière sur l’ISS par les Astronaute d’Endaevor pendant une sortie dans l’espace.
Le système original de télémanipulateur de Canadarm, ou le "bras robot," est une pièce importante de l'équipement de la navette spatiale, utile pour rechercher des satellites et pour la construction de l’ISS. Dextre ajoute une prolongation au dispositif original, avec deux petits bras supplémentaires. Il est capable de manipuler et d’assembler des charge actuellement exécuté par des astronautes pendant les sorties dans l'espace. Les deux nouveaux bras de Dextre permettront de transporter des objets, d'utiliser des outils, et d'installer et enlever l'équipement sur la station spatiale. Elle sera équipée de lumière, d’équipement visuel, d'une plateforme d'outil et de quatre supports d'outil.
Elle réduira le nombre de sorties dans l'espace exigées pour l'entretien de l'ISS
